About the Show

HIGH KICKS, HIGH HEELS AND HIGH CHAIRS. . .PALMER DAVIS IS NOT YOUR ORDINARY MOTHER.

"Dance is the Universal Language that can be used throughout your lives…," Palmer Davis passionately announces to her class of rascally second graders at the top of her solo show Suburban Showgirl. In a heartfelt attempt to enlighten the world about the value of dance, Davis takes us on a journey from her first ballet class to her first Broadway Tour to the complexity of motherhood. Weaving in and out of the school dance classes where four iconic children progress from second grade to high school seniors, Davis winds up teaching more than just the box step. Mirroring Palmer's own life, the children experience heartache, triumph, failure, the meaning of commitment, and finally discover their own unique passion for dance.

With over 28 characters, 11 styles of dance, and music from the past 80 years, Suburban Showgirl will captivate, entertain and inspire you to "make your own equation for happiness." Palmer Davis exposes the raw emotions dancers experience, the undying passion for the art, and the determination to never give up.

Palmer Davis grew up in San Diego California and continued her study in dance and language at UCLA. Freelancing as a dancer Palmer has appeared in over two dozen commercials and several awards shows including the Oscars, the Emmies, and the Billboard Awards. She continued to dance under director/choreographer Rob Marshal in MOW's Cinderella and Mrs. Santa Clause and in episodes of Frasier, The Drew Carrey Show, The Walter Winchel Story (dancing with Stanly Tuci), the films Rent, That Thing you Do, and What Women Want. While working in Hollywood, Palmer was flown to New York and booked her first National Tour with the Will Roger's Follies starring Keith Carradine, then went on to dance with The Radio City Rockettes in Mytle Beach and Chicago. Palmer's acting breaks came with Pensacola, Cover Me and the ever popular Power Rangers. Larger roles were soon offered for The Perfect Husband starring Dean Cain and a recurring role as public defender 'Margaret Finn' on CSI Las Vegas for seven seasons. In 2007 Palmer starred in UK independent film, The Last Blood Line and soon to be released Dark Streets. Davis has also started a dance program at her children's school, St. Cyril of Jerusalem in Encino and choreographs for children's youth group, Rising Stars, among several other organizations. She is determined to continue the lessons of Suburban Showgirl to as many children as possible. "If I can share an ounce of the joy I feel when I dance, I will be contributing to their lives."
